A LETTER FROM THE PROPRIETORS

The quality of Louianna Organic Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil extends even further to its organic certification by Suolo e Salute.

Suolo e Salute s.r.l. (ASS), is a Control Body for the organic agriculture authorized by Ministerial Decree no. 9697232 of 30th December 1996 by the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Forestry.

Suolo e Salute’s primary work is the control for the certification of organic agrofoods products, according to EC REG. no. 2092/91 and EC Reg. No. 1804/99, in the whole national country of the Italian Republic (E.U) and non-EEC countries.

Suolo e Salute has been accredited by SINCERT as no 051B in compliance with ISO 65, according to the 2092/91 Reg. EEC. Suolo e Salute also covers the FIAO Federazione Italiana Agricoltura Organica and are members of the National Committee for Organic Farming at the Italian Ministry of Agriculture.

Suolo e Salute in addition is accredited by WSDA, Washington State department of agriculture for organic accreditation since January 2001, as well as part of the IFOAM international organization.

According to the Italian Trade Commission Organic products are those, which in all phases of the productive cycle do not make use of chemical products (pesticides and fertilizers), and only cultivation and breeding techniques, which respect the environment, are allowed. To render the soil more fertile, the cultivation is rotated and only organic manure and salts are used, while to defend the cultivations from parasites, techniques and products, which do not harm the environment, are used. These products are recognizable by the wordings “From organic farming” and indicated on the label is the name of the control organization, the ministerial authorization and a series of letters and numbers that are the “identity card” of the product and the producers.

The distinction of Organic Olive Oil and Regular Olive Oil involves the practices of Organic farming. These practices build sustainable soil fertility that deeply nourishes plants, giving the fruit a more concentrated, intense flavor and nutritional power. There are no genetically engineered crops, sewage sludge, raw manures, synthetic herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers permitted.

The management for food processing also includes higher standards than that of regular olive oil. These standards certainly protect the integrity of our organic product. The olives must be pressed only at an Organic certified mill. Dr. Alessandro Patuto from Solo Salute supervises the mill, for the duration of the pressing of olives for Louianna.

The testing of Louianna Organic Olive Oil, for its acidity and proxidity is only permitted at approved enrolled bodies. These approved laboratories must be accredited to "SINAL" or in compliance with the UNI CEI EN 45001 regulations.

The Property of Louianna Estates experience extensive planned and unplanned inspection visits. The inspections are entrusted to the technical inspection staff including Dr. Alessandro Patuto. The extensive Inspection entails that of corporate management and the actual land.

The degree of examination covers, conformity inspection between the paper documents and the producing reality. The direct inspection, checks plants, structures, and warehouses. An analysis of company documentation is preformed and finally, the inspection of report writing.
